WHAT WE DO...

We are working to develop working models of rural community engaged sustainable sanitation and waste management solutions

FRESH & GREY WATER SANITATION

Water sanitation project covers aspects of availability, supply and storage of fresh water as well as safe disposal and reuse of grey-water to augment water supply, provide enhanced sanitation and soil conservation.

RURAL SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT

Sustainable Rural Solid Waste Management (SRSWM) project work mainly deals with three activity areas of work, that includes waste collection services, waste transportation services and waste disposal services.

AIR POLLUTION AND SANITATION

Rural areas suffer from out door air pollution in the form of indiscriminate use of insecticides/pesticides sprays and burning of wheat and paddy straw, and indoor pollution from burning biomass in open fire cooking.

STRATEGIC PLANNING AND INNOVATIONS

Sustainable rural sanitation and hygiene can be achieved through strategic planning and innovations, institutional capacity building, fiscal incentives, techno-economically viable technologies, and community participation.

COMMUNITY RESEARCH & ENGAGEMENT

The mission of the Community Research and Engagement project is to develop continuing understanding of and engagement in the project of the local communities through active learning and applied research projects.

GIS MAPPING AND RESOURCE PLANNING

Integration of surveys and GIS mapping enhances understanding and management decision-making through spatial analysis of  current solid waste and fresh / grey-water management issues as well as potential impacts.

DURJALA DEVI Dharamsala

As a representative of the village government, I feel very happy that SWASH village project is helping our local community and the village government with plans and resources to start a community based sustainable waste management project.

KEVIN SUNDARESWARAN France

My 8-months of volunteer-internship in SWASH Village project in 2015-16 was a tremendous personal and professional experience in cross-cultural settings. I feel proud of my work and contributions in Solid Waste management initiative of SWASH Village.

LAUREN BECK UK

I was initially anxious to start a new project wondering about its continuity and sustainability. However, understanding the organisational philosophy and strategic plans it helped me to develop my own bio-char based grey-water sanitation project.

MANOJ KUMAR Rajasthan, India

Many shopkeepers and I want to support SWASH Village project in our Gajner and Chandasar villages. It will help clean our village and desert area that is getting dirty. I am thankful to SWASH Village volunteers-interns for contributing new ideas and plans.

Optimizing every resource in the village to create better sanitation and hygiene!

From community research, design, planning and prototyping to community engagement, solid, liquid and air sanitation, we focus it on all.
