GIS and Resources Mapping

The most widespread application of GIS supported modelling on waste management lies in the areas of landfill siting and optimisation of waste collection and transport. Application of GIS does also help in Site Selection for Grey Water Soak Pits, and Solid Waste Collection Points in the village.

Additionally, GIS technology has been successfully used for siting of recycling drop-off centres, optimising waste management in undulated areas, estimation of solid waste generation using local demographic and socioeconomic data, and waste generation forecasting at the local level.
